World of Warcraft film begins filming in 2014.
The forthcoming World of Warcraft feature film will begin shooting early next year, director Charles Roven has told SlashFilm.
"First quarter of 2014 we'll begin to shoot the film," Roven said. "We're taking the next step; clearly Legendary is producing that film, and I'm having a great time with [director Duncan Jones]."
The story's script, written by Blood Diamond and K-PAX scribe Charles Leavitt-- is being kept "under wraps." A previous report put the film's budget as "north 100 million dollars."
The World of Warcraft film has not been without controversy. Spider-Man director Sam Raimi - who was at one point slated to direct the film--claimed at the end of March Blizzard tainment mismanaged the film.
Chief creative officer of Game company World of Warcraft fired back in response, saying, "I don't want to create controversy, but there are two sides to every story ..."
World of Warcraft the game had 8.3 million users at the time of the end of March. Its most recent expansion came out in Mists of Pandaria, which launched in September.
Blizzard: World of Warcraft will not become pay-to-win
World of Warcraft has more microtransactions within the game today than ever before (and it appears that they're getting more), but the game has not been able to move down a path toward becoming pay-to-win, the creative director Alex Afrasiabi says.
"That is not a direction that we're comfortable with in WoW," Afrasiabi told P2Pah during a recent preview event to preview the new expansion Warlords of Draenor.
Pay-to-win systems undermine player confidence as well as Blizzard has no plans of ever doing it, Afrasiabi said.
"Game design The majority of the time, it's about trust. In my opinion, our players trust us implicitly, and you don't intend to undermine the trust between the player and the developer. Pay-to-win certainly does this. And I think that is our main stance. We do not believe in pay-to-wins in World of Warcraft . That is not gonna happen."
Earlier this week, it was reported--though yet to be confirmed World of Warcraft players might be able to pay as little as $60 to auto-level a character at the current level of 90. Before, players needed to put in a lot of time or more to get to the same level buy WOW WOTLK Classic Gold . Many fans saw this as an indication that the integrity of the gaming experience was falling away.
