    Melvor Idle strips away the graphics and 3D environments of RuneScape and other MMOs and reduces it to a menu-based idle game, where players manage their skills, inventory , and quests. Combat encounters are fought and winning earns XP and loot that can be used to purchase any skill tree or upgrades players want, while repetition of activities like making or cutting wood can bring each of them benefits.

    Malcolm has played RuneScape since his youth He has also played in a variety of popular idle games like Clicker Heroes, Cookie Clicker and NGU Idle. While he was a fan, he felt it could be doing something more that would be rewarding in the same way to Jagex's top RPG.

    "So I decided to develop my own but never really thinking that it would be released, much less become an instant hit," he tells GamesIndustry.biz. "I tried to design something completely different from the existing idle game mould which was feature-rich and offered players real choice in how they wanted to move forward rather than just increasing numbers in a continuous cycle.

    After faffing with it for few minutes in a closed room I decided to combine concepts and mechanics of classic MMOs and the popular idle game strategy, creating something that could be enjoyed in a casual way, while on buy gold rs the move and fit into the daily routine of players."
